Memories of an interview on one day in June 2022
1. During the interview, they kept emphasizing that our company is German-owned (they considered this very important and mentioned it many times). They trained you so you wouldn’t forget, so this is an advantage.
2. There was a huge pile of test papers, a thick stack: an English test, a test on finding problems in diagrams, and a test on the principles of mechanics from school textbooks. It brought back the experience of taking exams as a student, training you to recover your memory, so this is an advantage.
3. After handing in the test papers, there were many questions you couldn’t answer or got wrong. The interviewing supervisor mocked and ridiculed you, asking how you could not know something so simple. This trained you to endure humiliation and bear heavy burdens without getting angry, because only people at the bottom of the class would end up looking for a small company like this to muddle through in, so this is an advantage.
4. They asked why you left your previous job. After you told them, they interpreted it according to their own wild imagination, saying it probably wasn’t as you described. Please—are they a worm in my stomach? Fortunately, they aren’t. This trained you to become a stunned mother, so this is an advantage.
5. Whenever you answered a question, you were constantly interrupted and heckled, leaving you unable to get a word in. This trained you to talk less and listen to their bullshit, training you in listening, so this is an advantage.
6. The interview took place in a very strange conference room. On a June afternoon in Taichung, it was already unbearably hot, but the air conditioning wasn’t on. It was so hot you nearly fainted. This trained you to withstand heat, so this is an advantage.
There are no disadvantages—everything above is an advantage.
