A few years ago, when I was in university, Watsons near my home had posted a notice looking for a part-time worker for the morning shift. A few days later, I called to ask whether the position was still available, and the store manager said I could come in directly for an interview.
When I arrived, the store manager handed me an application form to fill out, and only then casually mentioned that the person currently working the evening shift was starting night school, so she would be transferred to the morning shift. As a result, I would have to work rotating shifts and couldn’t work mornings only.
I genuinely felt like I was about to snap. I forced a smile and told the manager that I would think about it, then left.
No matter how many years have passed, I still think I did a damn good job handling it!
