1. The boss said that all the projects their company takes on are for publicly listed companies
2. Dual monitors
3. 15-minute flexible start time
The interview process was very quick, and the boss made decisions quickly. It looked like a very good choice for newcomers, which is both an advantage and a disadvantage.
1. Messy code:
Although it looks as if the projects are for publicly listed companies, the internal team has no standardized coding style, nor even a somewhat consistent naming convention. The CSS looks as if it has never been managed, which is not at all what you would expect from projects at a large company.
2. Outdated technology: The project does not use any of the three major frameworks currently in use. You will not see a single package.json file in the project, which brings us back to the issue in point 1.
3. I originally interviewed for a front-end engineer position, but after joining, I only did layout implementation work. There were no opportunities to connect data or integrate APIs.
4. New employees do not receive an annual bonus in their first year, not even a prorated one.
5. After the interview, they were very eager to get your answer and asked whether you could start work the next day.
6. During the interview, there was no opportunity to speak with the department manager. The manager only came in for about five seconds to look at the interviewee's work (without even opening the dev tools to take a glance).
Thoughts:
You have to start working on your very first day, with little time to familiarize yourself with the environment. At work, you just keep implementing layouts over and over; even looking up documentation feels rushed and stressful. The front-end engineers here are more like factory workers than engineers. Newcomers considering joining may want to think it over. This is not very suitable for people who want to improve their technical skills, nor is it suitable for beginners.
