The interview process was extraordinarily poor. After briefly going over my educational background and work experience, they immediately began picking apart my qualifications—either claiming that my studies were irrelevant or criticizing my work experience as unsuitable for a company like theirs (Are you a listed company?). Their criticism even extended to my previous employers. They then proceeded to boast at length about how innovative and creative their company was, repeatedly emphasizing how creatively gifted the owner was, while criticizing Taiwanese companies as having flawed and terrible systems (If you’re so good, why isn’t everyone earning millions of dollars like at TSMC?). They then asked whether I had researched what the company does beforehand. After I answered, they turned around and told me that my understanding was only superficial. Ironically, they never explained the company’s specific business activities at all, instead continuing to boast that the company was constantly expanding its business and increasing its revenue (Are they so short of money that they can’t focus on doing their core business well and instead desperately take on side jobs everywhere?). Looking them up online reveals that they are merely involved in businesses such as warehouse storage, second-hand electronic products, and foreign-worker placement, yet they talked as if they were a listed, high-tech company. They then continued talking self-importantly about how the company would undergo major transformations every so often, and that the company only wanted the strongest people, not weak ones. The funniest part was when they finally revealed the salary offered after all that self-congratulatory boasting—I couldn’t help laughing. Even someone working part-time for an hourly wage would earn far more than that. Their constant display of self-important rhetoric made it clear what level this company’s management is really at.
