Pros

Pros:

1. The work is relatively stable, but you have to rotate between day and night shifts. The night-shift allowance is NT$580 (you must work a full 12 hours, from 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., to receive the full NT$580; if you leave early at 4:00 a.m., the allowance will be reduced to less than NT$400).

2. The company subsidizes NT$17 for meals, as it has for more than a decade. The regular meal and noodle dishes cost NT$45, of which you pay NT$28; there is also a special meal costing NT$70, for which the company likewise subsidizes NT$17. (During the pandemic, only regular boxed meals were provided; none of the other options were available.) So the dishes are probably similar to what was served at the former Chengkungling training center, given the current price level!!

3. The bonuses given at the three major festivals are not fixed; whether they are paid depends on the company's mood. They are approximately NT$800, up to NT$1,000 at most!!

4. The company's salaries depend on education and connections. At present, new employees' salaries are much better than before because increases in the minimum wage have driven them up and the company must comply with regulations. The usual salary calculation for a new employee is: base salary + perfect-attendance bonus + position allowance. This is what the company refers to as the salary.

5. The company currently has banners posted saying that salaries should range from NT$28,500 to NT$35,000, and the formula above can be applied! Here is an example for reference: many employees who have worked for ten- or twenty-plus years still fall far short of the NT$35,000 threshold in “salary” (even after applying the formula above)!!

6. The company has a fixed year-end bonus (but it is paid proportionally, and no formula is provided for determining this proportion).

There is also an annual salary adjustment (but this annual adjustment is likewise based on absolutely no established system).

7. Taking the points above together, because previous employees had lower salaries, those who have worked for seven or eight years, more than ten years, or even more than twenty years may earn about the same as, or even considerably less than, highly educated new employees hired today. So newly hired employees are really favored!!

8. The company is extremely frugal and is constantly cutting costs and saving manpower, so new employees must have a wide range of skills, good physical stamina, and intelligence!! You will be put on the job very quickly, but learning is really up to you—whether you are willing to observe and learn on your own—because everyone is very busy!!!

9. Every workplace has many things that may seem unfair. For example, you may work hard, take your responsibilities seriously, and even perform better than many other people, but if you do not have a good relationship with your supervisors, your salary may be much lower than that of many people whom you consider worse than you. So you should know your place and accept it!!!

10. In the early days, the company had employees fill out an opinion survey every year. In recent years, however, this survey has been discontinued. The company probably already knows what employees are thinking, so there is no need to ask. The company is truly very considerate of its employees!!
