I'm really sorry… I honestly can't think of any pros to list…
The boss is a young person with highly volatile emotions and is the third generation of the family business. You have to choose the right time to report things to him; if he's in a bad mood, you'll be chewed out mercilessly.
The office environment can only be described as… lacking even basic maintenance! There are geckos everywhere, along with their droppings, which makes me feel itchy and uncomfortable every day.
The daily cleaning duties consist of washing the dishes and bowls the boss used the day before, as well as the tea leaves and teaware he used. It's not a big deal, but is it really that hard to wash your own dishes after eating?
In short, an emotional boss who expects everyone to read his mood before doing anything—I personally don't think it's acceptable. He loves yelling at employees. I really want to tell him… Could you please speak to us properly? We can understand you!
He says he doesn't care about those few thousand dollars, but if you don't flatter and curry favor with him, don't even think about getting a raise. “Salary adjustments based on ability” really just means he decides whether you're capable or not based on his subjective satisfaction with you.
Working regular hours was agreed upon during the interview, but after I officially started, I was “reminded” simply because I left work at 5:30 p.m. on time. I arrive at the company ten minutes early every day and wait for the door to open. While everyone else clocks in at the last second, I finish my assigned work during working hours and leave on time—yet they still have something to say? Other people voluntarily stay late because they can't finish their work. They could clearly claim overtime pay, but instead say they don't want to because of their sense of responsibility. Sense of responsibility? It's only because they were scrolling through Facebook at work that they couldn't finish their tasks.
