During the interview, they ask whether you have a driver’s license and whether you are willing to work overtime. The supervisor explains the company benefits, year-end bonus, and so on. It all sounds very appealing. The benefits include health management, subsidies for further education, travel subsidies (I heard it’s NT$20,000 per year), discounts on air conditioners when purchasing a car as an employee, and more. However, after joining, I realized that things were not really as they seemed.
The job is terrible; I recommend not joining.
If you are considering joining because the supervisor said the year-end bonus is six months’ salary, think twice. Basically, the monthly salary is very low—no more than NT$35,000—and they pressure you to buy a car; every colleague in the department has one. There are also activities on Saturdays and Sundays almost every month, but attending them does not count as overtime, which is a rip-off. The company has an internal credit system, and many credits require attending classes outside working hours, which also do not count as overtime. The supervisor is difficult to deal with, and the training is very poor. The company’s senior management strongly promotes an overtime culture.
