On 3/16, they emailed saying they were interested in inviting me for an interview and discussion. After I replied, there was no further contact. When I proactively called on 3/18, the company said the position was no longer needed. If a company reaches out proactively and the position is no longer available, it should inform candidates proactively, rather than keeping the job posting up, proactively inviting candidates, and then failing to follow up. Job seekers should be cautious and careful not to have their time wasted.
