1. The Taipei headquarters is fairly clean.
2. Except for the boss and a few freeloaders, everyone else is very nice.
3. The air conditioning is cold enough.
1. There are always people who do nothing trying to undermine those who work seriously.
2. Eunuchs wield power, and relatives of the emperor interfere in government.
3. There is a severe lack of professional managers. Senior executives know nothing about the relevant expertise yet insist on serving as supervisors.
4. As noted in point 3, outsiders lead experts, and the outsiders ostracize the experts.
5. Bonuses are inexplicably cut without any explanation.
6. The boss makes a special announcement to the entire company to give an award to an employee for meritorious work, and it turns out to be NT$1,000.
7. The boss may ask you to spend a large amount of working time on the performance of another subsidiary, ultimately affecting your own performance evaluation.
8. There are an extraordinary number of managers who do no work; the company as a whole feels like a government agency staffed by retired military and civil-service personnel.
9. A midsize company with 200 employees has nevertheless created a host of cumbersome paperwork and management procedures, making it resemble a state-owned enterprise. For example, submitting a reimbursement request for an eraser requires several levels of approval before reaching the top boss for sign-off—or selling a ruler to a customer can take three months.
