Pros

Pros… probably convenient transportation and leaving work on time.

Cons

There are too many cons to explain clearly.

Managers make many demands and forget what they have said, then ask why you did not do A, even though they themselves said not to do it. They also like to dump meaningless tasks on you: one second they say to do A, the next they say it has to be B, and the next second it becomes A, B, and C all at once.

They also like prying into employees’ private lives and mocking their interests, appearance, and so on.

None of the above is the biggest problem.

This company has countless unspoken rules that all veteran employees assume newcomers should know. For example, cleaning and helping coworkers with their work: regardless of whether you know what others are doing, you are expected to put down your own work and proactively help. Newcomers are considered the lowest-ranking, so they must always rush to finish things before the veterans do.

They micromanage newcomers to an extreme, even controlling how you arrange your belongings, the size and color of windows on your computer screen, the order in which you view information, and so on.

In addition, the veterans collectively bully newcomers.

This ranges from ignoring them, openly humiliating them, gossiping, and framing them to personal attacks and threats. Reporting it to upper management is useless. In the end, we called in the labor inspection bureau to investigate, and only after it confirmed that the company had violated regulations did the company change its tune and say it would handle the matter.

In short, this is an extremely newcomer-unfriendly environment. Those who are mentally strong and willing to challenge workplace veterans may want to consider it.
