Pros

There are some normal, easygoing colleagues, but not everyone is like that.

Cons

1. The salary is far below the industry standard, while the workload far exceeds what was described during the interview. The company’s owners want one person to ideally do the work of six, while offering only the minimum salary that meets the basic wage requirements under the Labor Standards Act. Salary adjustments are impossible. They make verbal promises during interviews, but in practice are completely unwilling to raise salaries.

2. Managers avoid responsibility and do not work. Some basic questions even have to be directed to very junior employees—people who may have been working for only three months—because the managers do not know the answers. The manager may even roar, “Then what do you want me to do? How do you want me to answer you?” with an attitude suggesting that you have angered them to death and that every mistake is your fault. It is also difficult to contact anyone. A minor matter requiring only an email can be dragged out for more than three months. Whenever superiors assign blame, they immediately shift responsibility and rush to report negatively about others to those above them. They are the perfect example of workplace backstabbers. If you want to experience working with people like this, feel free to come experience this workplace.

3. When you raise the many unreasonable demands, all you get are accusations that your work attitude is problematic, such as, “Please grow up. Do you really need to bother me, the boss, with something like this?” The matter is then completely unresolved or becomes even worse as a result.

4. The bosses are extremely stingy—utterly stingy—and are the perfect embodiment of wanting the horse to run well while refusing to feed it. Basically, they force you to find the best vendors and then push the prices down to extremely low levels. They will haggle until the vendors cannot even cover their costs, causing all their partner vendors to be flooded with negative reviews. As an employee, you always have to work hard to placate and apologize to the other party in order to calm the vendors’ hellish fury. You constantly worry that one day, after work, you will be ambushed by a group of furious vendors, while the bosses smugly boast everywhere about how they forced vendors to lose money doing work for them. (It is truly embarrassing.)

5. Working overtime is the norm, and it is difficult to apply for overtime pay. You are usually forced to offset it with time off because the boss cannot bear to pay you. Anyone who does not want to waste their youth and life should leave as quickly as possible. Difficulty applying for petty cash is also normal. The boss seems to think many things will simply fall from the sky; if they do not, you are expected to somehow produce them without spending the boss’s money on things they consider meaningless. If you cannot produce them, you are deemed incapable—it is all your fault, and you are told to reflect on yourself.

6. Work progress is often held back by the managers and bosses because they are not very clear about what they actually want. At Monday’s meeting, they may say to use Plan A for the exhibition, then switch directly to Plan B on Wednesday without notifying anyone. Although work on Plan A is already underway, the bosses and managers blame every problem on you and take their anger out on you. For example, even if the designer’s work for Plan A is worse than something drawn by a kindergartener, the boss will not blame the designer but will instead keep taking it out on you, berating you for two hours until they have vented their anger.

7. Once someone resigns, they are treated as untouchable. That person can stop doing any work entirely and does not need to hand things over properly. They may have no idea what they are doing at work and can even deliberately cause trouble for others. For example, a project that the departing employee was halfway through may be casually dumped on a newcomer. When the newcomer asks about specific problems, the departing employee may scold them incoherently and still provide no answer, leaving the issue unresolved. The manager will turn a blind eye and think that since the person is leaving, the newcomer should figure things out independently—even though the departing employee still has an entire month to complete the handover.

Conclusion: Since I did not stay long enough, I discovered that this workplace was extremely problematic and cannot provide other people with more information. However, judging from the reviews left by those who came before me, I have to tell everyone that everything written above is true! So I also quickly escaped from this company. I hope that none of you ever join this company in your lifetime (unless you think your life is going too smoothly and happily and desperately want to experience a problematic work environment).
