美商奇異國際股份有限公司
Pros

Position: Project Engineer (GE Gas Power)

1. Working hours are very flexible, with no fixed start or end times. If your manager agrees, you can also work from home. As long as tasks are completed on time and you attend meetings remotely, no one will monitor when you start or finish work or whether you come into the office.

2. The Taipei office environment is very good.

3. The foreign manager I happened to work with had a very people-oriented management style, which supported the first advantage and respected employees’ personal time.

*The above only reflects the experience of this BU and project and cannot represent all of GE.

Cons

1. The project organization is highly flat, with very specialized divisions of labor, and most project members are no longer based in Taiwan. This results in very high communication costs and tasks being passed back and forth. However, this is a common problem with all large-scale EPC projects: getting things done can be very difficult and efficiency is low.

2. Strong English skills are required, as most members are foreigners.

3. Immediate productivity is expected, with little time to gradually get up to speed. It is best to have a certain level of familiarity with the work before joining.

4. Compensation and benefits are gradually becoming more localized, but they are still better than those offered by local companies and some foreign companies that only have a foreign exterior but local practices.
