If you have the ability and dare to ask for a raise, the boss will dare to give you whatever amount you ask for.
But don’t expect too much from the empty promises, such as performance bonuses...
1. The boss is sales-oriented and loves making grand promises. He talks a good game, so just listen and don’t take it too seriously. Farglory’s projects keep coming in—you’ll still be taking them on even when you can no longer handle the workload.
2. Don’t expect to learn design here; this is an engineering-oriented company. You can’t say the boss doesn’t know how to draw because he’ll get angry, but the fact is, he really doesn’t. Being able to use CAD doesn’t mean you know how to draw well, okay?!
3. There are very few stable contractor teams because the boss loves arguing with them, which is very troublesome for designers.
4. Quotes are made arbitrarily: submit a low bid to win the project, then find a way to charge extra.
5. After observing someone for a while, the boss may start to dislike them. You’ll probably be pressured to leave before you’ve worked there for five years.
6. During the interview, everything will sound wonderful. Once you join the company and things get busy, you’ll feel like you were tricked into coming!
