No advantages at all
The company’s supervisors have virtually no authority; everything is decided by the owner and Manager Lin, making it feel like a family business. If you make a mistake or something goes wrong, money is deducted from your pay, and they resort to yelling at the slightest opportunity—or threaten you with your year-end performance review. They make it sound as though the year-end bonus is substantial, but every year around midyear they tell everyone that the company has not made money and that we must stand together with the owner through difficult times. Manager Lin’s management style is emotional, and she likes to assert her authority by shouting at people. Sometimes the company’s foreign workers ruin a batch of bread, and she tells office staff to go upstairs and collect cash directly from them. The company has no systems in place; it cannot even standardize something as simple as its dress code. Some things are allowed while others are not. It is really confusing, and no one knows whose instructions they are supposed to follow.
