They only want experienced people who can start working immediately. Newcomers are sent straight into battle, with no one to guide you step by step. Everyone is busy working at their own station, and being constantly scolded is completely normal. You get scolded for being slow to collect trays from outside, scolded because collecting trays and wiping tables and chairs are done in two separate trips, and scolded if you wipe the table before the chair.

During work hours, you can only squat down to eat breakfast and drink water when you find a spare moment. You can probably only use the restroom once. Often, a customer suddenly arrives just when you are about to eat breakfast, and by the time you can eat, the food is already cold and it is noon. On holidays, when there are a huge number of customers, you may not even be able to take a sip of water for three or four hours. Even when it is less busy, the owner and full-time staff will ask you to prepare ingredients: wash and dehydrate vegetables; slice tomatoes, cucumbers, and onions; portion cheese, fries, and chicken; portion sauce containers and sauce packets; mix sauces; and make waffles. From the time you start until you finish work, there is almost no time to rest or catch your breath. If you are distracted for even a second, the manager immediately yells, “Don’t stand around—find something to do!” You have to wash dishes, wipe plates, and organize the front-of-house area. In short, your hands absolutely cannot stop moving, regardless of whether there are customers at that moment.

The pay is extremely low. They say that because you have been there for less than a month, you only receive a daily wage of 900 per day. You start at 5:30 a.m. Although the store closes at 1:30 p.m. on weekdays, cleaning up, taking inventory, and preparing ingredients for the next day usually mean you cannot leave until after 3:00 p.m. On holidays, it can even be 4:00 p.m. (The owner even says that they are closing earlier now; in the past, they would not finish until 5:00...) However, they allow you to report at most half an hour of overtime per day. The pay is ridiculously low for such physically demanding work.
