The company designs a large number of Excel spreadsheets. Every spreadsheet is brightly colored, and others are strictly forbidden from changing the spreadsheet format.
They like recruiting a bunch of inexperienced newcomers and making grand promises to them every day. The salary and compensation are not particularly high, but they say the company is training you. One supervisor’s favorite thing to do is teach newcomers (having you sit beside them and listen to a lecture). Then they blame you for working slowly and wanting to leave on time before finishing your work. (Unless you leave work very late every day, in which case the company will think you’re great.)
Everyone in the company leaves around seven or eight o’clock (normal quitting time is 5:45). There is no overtime pay; you can only exchange it for compensatory leave, but whether you get compensatory leave depends on the boss’s mood and whether they are willing to count it as overtime.
The company likes assigning employees tasks just before they finish work, even when the information is not needed until two or three days later. Leaving work a little after six will make the company dislike you.
