Pros

1. A fairly average company; it complies with all the basic requirements of the Labor Standards Act.

2. The environment is not dirty.

3. Overtime is two hours at a time. If you cannot work overtime, you will not be pressured.

4. Overtime pay and boxed meals are provided for overtime work.

5. The year-end bonus is fixed at one month’s salary.

6. Taking leave results in a NT$1,000 deduction from the perfect-attendance bonus; taking leave is considered relatively easy here.

7. The manufacturing-floor environment is straightforward. Production-line workers need to tell the team leader when they need to use the restroom or take care of something, but they will not be given a hard time.

Cons

1. There is no toilet paper in the restrooms in manufacturing, processing, and some floors. Departments that do have toilet paper might include the sales department.

2. Salary adjustments are not guaranteed. Based on my actual experience and that of other long-serving employees, some people have gone around six years without an adjustment. Adjustments are generally 3%–5%.

3. The year-end bonus is too fixed. The pandemic turned overtime into a regular and frequent occurrence, and for a traditional manufacturing company, frequent overtime without a decent bonus is rather miserable.

4. There are no boxed meals for overtime. The overtime-meal subsidy is only NT$50—not even enough to provide a complete boxed meal to employees who are making money for the company.

5. For office positions, I recommend discussing the job responsibilities clearly.

6. This is my personal opinion: you cannot learn much here. It is a traditional-industry family business without comprehensive training or complete SOPs (if you work in the office).

7. There is no lunch allowance.

8. Overtime cannot be done in half-hour or one-hour increments; each instance must be two hours, which is very troublesome.

9. Office staffing is tight, and individual employees bear excessive workloads. Simply put, some departments are overloaded.

10. There is no year-end banquet.

11. There is no New Year’s raffle either. Long-serving employees say that, as far as they can remember, there have been no employee trips.

12. The pre–Chinese New Year dinner is paid for by the department manager out of their own pocket as a company cultural practice. If you come for an interview and meet the manager... things must be pretty bad for you to come here... (The manager even has to pay for the year-end banquet; the company is very stingy.)

13. The gifts for the three traditional holidays are NT$600 for production-floor employees and NT$1,000 for office employees.

The above reflects my actual work experience and opinions at the company. I am not responsible for departments I have not worked with or for any institutional changes the company may have made after my resignation; I am only providing what I know. I also do not accept malicious defamation.
