I joined the company’s Darphin brand on August 1. On August 17 and 18, because the department store was undergoing renovations, I worked a full shift from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. There was a two-hour meal break, making a total of nine working hours. However, the store manager actually said that the extra hour would receive neither overtime pay nor compensatory time off because it was already included in the base salary!! The manager also told me that the company schedules shifts and leave over a period of seven or eight months, so I couldn’t calculate it this way. I had only started work on August 1—what was the problem? They even tried to tell me that the schedule was arranged once every two months 🙄🙄. Then, because I raised the issue of overtime, they suddenly told me that I could not take August 31 off. My leave and shifts had already been changed more than six times!!! They said it was because a departing employee needed to conduct an inventory count. The point is, I had already submitted my resignation on the 20th, and a full inventory count had also been completed that day. They should have told me earlier instead of deliberately bringing up the inventory only after a problem arose. Therefore, I advise everyone not to be misled by large companies and to think carefully before joining this company.
