This is beyond ridiculous.
I received an interview invitation that the company itself had sent to me.
When I arrived, the person who greeted me said, “You don’t need to fill out the personnel information form yet. Wait until the manager says you should fill it out.”
After I entered the meeting room, I saw a blank personnel information form and a half-drunk cup of water on the table. It was obvious they had been left by the person who had just interviewed.
While I was wondering why I didn’t need to fill out the form, the manager came in.
After sitting down, the manager didn’t ask much.
They only asked, “Do you have experience placing advertisements?”
Then they rattled off a long explanation:
“Because our company is currently looking for someone with experience,
and we don’t have time to let you figure things out and learn.
In that case, you’re probably not suitable for this position at our company.
Since our HR department didn’t understand what kind of person our department was looking for, they may have sent this email to you.
However, I did look at your résumé, and I think you might be capable in this area. But if you don’t have experience in this field, you could try working for an agency instead. This position at our company probably isn’t suitable for you.”
That made me understand why I saw a blank personnel information form and a half-drunk cup of water when I entered the meeting room.
Apparently, this manager had also used the same excuse to dismiss the previous interviewee.
At that point, I was already completely dumbfounded.
The interviewer even said,
“What’s wrong? Are you sad?”
After reading this, would you still want to go to the interview?
If a company is this disrespectful to interviewees,
why would it be worth working for?
The manager had clearly looked at my résumé and knew I wasn’t suitable, but still asked me to come in just so they could take a look at me, tell me they thought I wasn’t suitable, and then let me leave!
An interviewee’s time is a cost, and transportation is also a cost.
Turning down interviews with other companies because of this interview is also a cost!
Scheduling interview times with different companies before an interview also takes considerable effort!
I urge all interviewees:
Don’t spend the time and effort arranging an interview with this company.
They are extremely disrespectful to interviewees!
