Will you slack off at work to buy fish and masks?
Can you call home during work to ask someone to keep an eye out for whether a package has arrived?
Are you able to run your private online business while at work?
Do you have the courage to pretend to be in a meeting while your supervisor is on leave, actually sneak out for the whole day, and return just before the end of the workday?
Can you arrive late every day, leave work late, and put on a convincing show of looking exhausted from working so hard?
Can you do your utmost to build your personal brand during work hours, say everything that needs to be said, and resist outside distractions?
Will you delegate all your own tasks to your colleagues by email and still get away unscathed?
Can you accept producing more than a year’s worth of self-righteous garbage, in gratitude that all the people around you who work together are idiots, fools, and “jiǎ sāi”?
Can you master, even before starting work here, the professional skills of operating within a hierarchical leadership structure for a long time—acting one way in front of people and another behind their backs, and saying one thing while doing another?
If you can do all of the above and accept it, then you’re truly impressive—so for you, they’re all advantages!
You’ll take on tasks but won’t dodge them; you’ll do the work but won’t push it onto others; you’ll speak up but won’t flatter.
You’ll treat people honestly, but you won’t be morally flawless.
If you can do all of the above and it fits you, then it just depends on whether you consider them shortcomings!
