廿一世紀數位科技有限公司
Pros

An office building close to the MRT station, and reasonably clean.

Convenient for buying meals nearby

Cons

The boss is very stingy and spends every day flooding the group chat with talk about efficiency and other nonsense. During the Level 3 COVID-19 alert, they kept saying that the outbreak in Taipei was not serious, that people should not scare themselves, and that employees should wear their masks properly and return to the office to work (claiming that working from home was inefficient). On May 24, they forcibly canceled working from home.

If you stop to take a sip of water or rest for a moment, you will be “checked on” (to see whether you are slacking off).

The boss uses surveillance cameras to check whether employees are working diligently.

You are required to make up the hours whenever you take leave.

Overtime is the norm; you cannot leave work until your cases are finished.

The job interview and the actual job duties are different.

The working hours and duties agreed upon during the interview will suddenly be changed approximately 7–10 days after you start, when you are told that management wants you to transfer departments. (This is mandatory.)

Then they say that because transferring departments requires adapting to the nature of the department’s work, you must cooperate with shift scheduling.

I directly told them: “I accepted this job because the hours fit my class schedule. We agreed on the duties and hours, so changing them at the last minute is not really okay, and you never asked about my personal preference.”

But they turned around and said, “The e-commerce lending business is inherently very changeable, and the company also has staffing needs. If your mindset is that you only want to sit in one position until the end, then this job may not be suitable for you. You can write your resignation letter today; it’s also fine if you don’t stay until the end.”

After thinking about it, I realized that several women started at the same time as I did, and I also stopped seeing them after just a few days. I do not know whether they really compromised and were transferred or simply resigned.

It feels like this is a habitual tactic: first, they invite job seekers to interview for positions with normal working hours, then, after you start, they use this rotation tactic to pressure you into compromising.

Remember, if the company uses this method to pressure you into compromising once, there will be a second and a third time.

Unless you are fine with shift scheduling from the beginning, you could consider negotiating a higher salary at the initial interview; otherwise, you will feel mistreated doing the job.
