The supervisor will ask what areas you need to improve in, which makes you feel as though you’re being valued. If you like consolation prizes, you should come quickly.
1. In reality, the supervisor only asks to ease their conscience. Whether it’s equipment, personnel transfers, or job duties, you’re expected to deliver the best performance with limited resources.
2. They bring in some parachuted-in oddballs to handle things—a real “birds of a feather” style—and then junior employees get randomly reassigned to roles unrelated to the position they originally applied for.
3. Working there for a long time doesn’t mean you’ll get promoted. The salary is extremely, extremely, extremely stable. The work is a mess; after all, the supervisor isn’t doing it, so they assume you can finish everything.
