Pros

Pros: When I went for the interview, the company was bright, and the HR representative was polite and perfectly normal. At first, I had no idea the company would turn out to be like this.

Cons

People who are going for an interview, please take note. I swear that everything I have written is absolutely true; otherwise, may I suffer the consequences.

After entering the company’s address on the second floor, I also registered under the real-name system as part of the pandemic control measures. A woman took me to the office to wait for the supervisor’s interview. I later found out that the boss was the supervisor.

A man came in. His face looked very unpleasant from the start, and I didn’t know what was wrong. I thought it didn’t matter—I was there for an interview, so I would just talk with him. At first, he asked about my experience and the job duties. I interviewed the way I had previously done in the electronics and information technology industry. I had never applied to a company involved in manufacturing or processing before. In the middle of the conversation, he suddenly said very harshly, “You interrupt me before I’ve finished speaking. Get out.” I was shocked. I realized that this company was completely different from the foreign-owned and technology companies I had worked with before. I held back. Although no amount of money could make me work for such a disrespectful company, after he finished speaking, I asked whether I could answer before I dared to say anything. His attitude became even worse after discussing the salary I requested. He said, “You’re asking for this salary? Convince me,” and kept saying things like, “That’s all others offer,” and so on. At that point, I felt that he was extremely unprofessional and rude. He then said that this was a responsibility-based position with no fixed working hours. When it was my turn to speak, I emphasized which duties were not my specialties, and the supervisor suddenly exploded again, saying, “If you answer like that again, leave.”

No matter how inadequate or terrible I may be, basic human courtesy is still necessary. You could have asked me to go home and wait for the news, or politely asked me to leave. I am not an employee of your company, so there is no need to insult an interviewee.

I wondered what kind of company I had encountered. Do I need your approval for how I answer? I’m not even your employee yet. You clearly don’t understand the situation. I simply said that I wanted to leave—you didn’t need to keep yelling at me. I was only there for an interview, yet you treated me like a dog and cursed at me.

I feel that this company believes people who come for interviews are there to beg them, plead with them, and ask them for a job and a meal, as though the company were above everyone else. I never imagined that the owner of a traditional-industry company would think that paying money gave him the right to humiliate others at will, while still wanting to hire engineers from the electronics and information technology field. I have worked for decades and have never encountered anyone who treated people this way. Perhaps only people who lack ability get insulted all day long.

Personally, I feel that unless you have no other option and are about to starve, you should not go for an interview there. I would rather starve to death than work for a company that shows this kind of disrespect. It would be best not even to go to the interview, otherwise you will definitely be extremely upset. (If you do decide to try it, that’s fine too—remember to come back and write about your experience to help others.)

Finally, I swear again that everything I said is absolutely true. If I am lying, may I die a terrible death.
