This company recruits employees by “deception.”

It makes people question the company’s “integrity” toward its employees—or, more significantly, its reputation.

On a recruitment platform, the company posted a position for an administrative staff member. After being notified of the interview, I even took half a day off to attend. I filled out an application form first and then had the interview. Only after the entire process was over did the supervisor say that the company was actually looking for a procurement staff member. Since the recruitment platform listed only a contact person and no telephone number, I could only attend the interview based on the “interview notification message” I received.

If the company had stated from the beginning that it was looking for a “procurement staff member,” I would not have submitted my résumé. Generally speaking, procurement staff at international pharmaceutical companies need a certain level of English proficiency and knowledge of pharmaceuticals. My English is not strong, but I am the type of person with strong administrative and data-processing abilities. I was still employed at the time and specifically took half a day off to attend, so I felt that we were wasting each other’s time.

On the other hand, being lured into an interview through deception felt awful. It also left me with an extremely negative impression of the company.
