There is a severe shortage of staff. Including me, there are only six people handling maintenance, and the scope of work is extremely broad. The senior technician has an eccentric temperament; students in industry-academia programs and foreign workers have had multiple conflicts with him. It follows a traditional master-apprentice system: he likes to give you all the work and then slack off nearby, and habitually withholds knowledge because he is afraid you will replace him. The working hours are long, and overtime is routine. Overtime pay is calculated hourly. The boss’s wife patrols the factory whenever she has nothing else to do. It is a very stingy company that nitpicks over your pay.
