The headhunter here is an idiot.

My résumé clearly states that I don't live in Taipei.

When he scheduled an interview with me, I asked if we could do a video interview,

and he asked me: “You don't live in Taipei right now, so why do you want a video interview?”

You saw that I don't live in Taipei, so why did you still ask me? Did you want me to explain the cost and time of traveling?

Isn't it obvious enough that, since I don't live in Taipei, I want to do a video interview?

If I hadn't asked you, wouldn't you have just ignored where I live and expected me to make two trips—one to interview with you and one to interview with the manager?

After I answered his infuriating question,

he said: “You can have a video interview with me the first time, but the second time with the manager has to be in person in Taipei.”

.....

1. So after you asked me so many questions just now, I still have to interview with you again?

The position I'm applying for isn't some specialized role; it's just an administrative position, merely administrative.

2. Did you ask the company whether the interview with them could be face-to-face? [Note: contextually, this likely means whether it could be conducted via video.]

You didn't ask them,

how do you know whether they would be willing to do a video interview?

I know many company managers are terrible:

they won't use video,

they're lazy,

and then they come up with a bunch of excuses about still needing to see the person in person,

when a video interview would clearly be sufficient.

I don't believe that if you can see someone's face and hear their voice on video,

you still can't get a clear enough sense of what that person is like.

But please, could you at least ask them?
