Pros

Working overtime every day, thinking the salary would be high.

Cons

As mentioned above, the overtime pay is so low it makes you want to cry—it’s a complete waste of time. The company’s employees all seem to love working overtime. The company computers are terrible and have no external network access, so we can only connect to the internal network, which is extremely unstable: it disconnects every day, and sometimes we mysteriously cannot connect at all. This seriously affects work progress, and sometimes it may be impossible to work for an entire day. The computers also frequently crash. The vice president always acts superior, waiting for people to curry favor with her. Also, the department has to pay to treat the boss to a company New Year’s banquet. During holidays and on birthdays, we have to remember to give gifts and celebrate as well. There hasn’t been a single year when we actually got to enjoy the year-end banquet, because we are always busy preparing performances to please vendors, hoping they will contribute more so that we can receive red envelopes. We are also required to dress very formally in evening wear for the banquet, but once we arrive, we have to prepare our makeup (which makes us look neither human nor ghostly) and then change into costumes. Before the banquet, we have to work overtime every day to rehearse the performances. The company’s systems and job responsibilities are extremely complicated. The tasks we normally do are often unrelated to our positions, and regardless of which department we are in, we may be called upon at any time to help with other work.

The company often organizes all kinds of pointless competitions (such as drawing), and, just like in junior high school, has a grading system with categories such as “honorable mention.”

We are not allowed to eat or use our phones during working hours, but we often see the boss’s daughter walking around while eating food.
