Results Secretary / Sales Assistant
This position is only suitable for inexperienced fresh graduates who have just entered the workforce and are looking to be deceived; there is absolutely no prospect for development.
Before entering the office, there is a strange string of red lanterns at the entrance. After entering, the ceiling is very low, and the entire office is dim and oppressive. The entire office is staffed by women because the boss believes women are more detail-oriented. If you are not detail-oriented enough and make a mistake, he will use that as an excuse to criticize you. As soon as you enter, someone from HR will give you a test. Because the company is short-staffed all year round, the script is always exactly the same. The test consists of one side of English-to-Chinese and Chinese-to-English translation, and the other side is a reply letter. There is no need to take it too seriously, because it seems that no one reads it anyway; after sitting there for half a year or a year, it is apparently all collected and discarded. The interviewer is the boss's wife. She speaks in a mix of Chinese and English, using very simple English words, and it is unclear why she has to insert them. If you join the company, you will discover that the couple both speak this way; apparently, they cannot speak otherwise. During the interview, they will ask you to introduce your previous work experience, but no one is really listening, because they will then repeat the questions about the parts they just asked you to explain. The interview process is extremely quick; they only want to know your salary RANGE and the earliest date you can start work (because someone is about to resign immediately, so the sooner the better). After joining the company, they will spend less than two weeks handing things over to you, depending on your earliest possible start date. There is no so-called honeymoon period. It is probably limited to the boss setting up your computer on your first day and asking whether you have any questions. Moreover, after you join, they will first dump all of the company's long-standing troublesome clients on the newcomer. The supervisor will not help either, but will only make snide remarks. The supervisor speaks extremely loudly but takes no action whatsoever. Whenever a problem occurs, she only replies: "It wasn't like this when I handled it before. I don't know why it became like this after you took over." Even when covering for someone else and replying to the factory, she only shirks responsibility: "This isn't my order! How would I know? Go ask the person who took the order." This is something she says every day. Then what is the point of having her cover for someone...? When a salesperson has too many clients and is under too much pressure, she will appropriately dump clients onto salespeople she thinks can handle them, because the company already has few people and handing them off is itself a burden. She does not help herself, but instead throws them onto another salesperson, while saying things like, "This client is very easy~" These are such thoughtless remarks. She does not have to handle the client herself yet still says things like that—it is truly unacceptable. She only handles one so-called "major client" a year (which is not actually very large—at most a little over one million per year). She is usually extremely idle and loves talking to colleagues about boring, pointless things like her children. Her voice is extremely loud all day long. The mental and physical torment genuinely makes you want to apply for occupational injury compensation. Usually there are two exhibitions a year that require business trips. Before a trip, when the sales staff are informed and asked whether the timing is acceptable, if a salesperson says they only want to attend one exhibition, the response is: "This isn't about whether you want to or not. We've already decided. We weren't asking for your opinion." As a company supervisor, responding like this is appalling. The criteria by which the company hires such supervisors are also deeply concerning. No wonder the company cannot retain employees and is constantly posting vacancies.
As for the company boss, there is even less to say. Every day he only eats, sits at his desk sleeping, scrolls on his phone watching TikTok, or browses websites. Whenever he happens to think of it, he asks the sales staff whether they have any problems; if not, he slips away. That would be fine—he is the boss. He can come and go whenever he wants. But he meddles in many trivial matters, which is extremely irritating, such as whether the company name on a document is centered. Meanwhile, he leaves major matters for the sales staff to shoulder themselves, showing absolutely no sense of responsibility! Job seekers are advised to think carefully. The boss really only needs to be in the office during the few weeks when quotations are required. The rest of the time, there is really no need for him to sit nearby loudly asking why no one has opened the snacks yet because he is embarrassed to open them himself! When helping assign clients to salespeople, he says that salespeople in the past each handled more than ten clients. But those salespeople all left because they could not take it, with only one remaining—the so-called "supervisor." She now handles only one client a year while saying every day that she is very busy. It is truly impossible to see what she is busy with. The boss is exceptionally good at contradicting himself.
If you are assigned to travel abroad for an exhibition during your first year, do not celebrate too soon! When the boss travels abroad, he becomes extremely impatient and unreasonable. When speaking, he always has to use hurtful language and shows no empathy whatsoever. He treats the factory like a dog (P.S. he treats the sales staff the same way), doing whatever he wants. If he cannot reach you by phone, once you answer, you will be subjected to a barrage of scolding. The mental and physical pressure will be immense. Every day of the trip will be painful, and sometimes he will even think of something at night and call you to assign work, preventing you from resting!
The people in the office are treated the same way. Whenever he thinks of it, he calls the office staff and tells them not to slack off, calling each person one by one. It is truly incredibly pointless!! Even when there is no exhibition, he often maintains this pattern, frequently harassing the sales staff at night or on weekends. The tasks he assigns are not actually that urgent, but they leave the sales staff exhausted and cause them to age rapidly over the course of a year. Experienced friends, please think carefully before submitting your résumé to this company, okay? Do you really need this job that badly? If not, it is recommended that you apply elsewhere to avoid a bad experience.
Even when an employee gives one month's notice of resignation, the boss repeatedly says that they are leaving in a hurry. One month of handover already complies with the Labor Standards Act. Is six months really necessary for the handover? The work is not difficult, and seeing the boss is painful enough as it is. Whether the new hire can absorb the work is not something the resigning employee can control. His own management is so poor, yet after the employee has said nothing, he still does not know what he is complaining about.
When current employees raise the issue that the supervisor has not helped while they are taking over clients dumped on them by the supervisor, the boss even makes excuses for the ineffective supervisor he chose, saying: "She is very busy. In fact, the salesperson can get familiar with the client on their own..." and other such nonsense. Then who exactly is complaining that resigning employees left in a hurry??? He constantly contradicts himself, repeatedly undermining things he said only a second earlier or previously. Truly wonderful, so logical, and so proactive.
In the more than two years since taking over the company, he has turned it into complete chaos. Is that talent, or what? He has made the entire company want to resign~
He continually makes unreasonable demands of employees who have not yet resigned, taking advantage of the fact that they are still employed and showing absolutely no concern for their feelings. He is truly very inconsiderate.
The work itself is really not difficult. The difficult part is having to deal with this boss and supervisor, which is extremely draining. Job seekers should really keep their eyes open.
