The company environment is clean.
Position interviewed for: Online Marketing Specialist
Job responsibilities: Brainstorming and executing marketing campaigns for the company website and e-commerce platforms, and designing packaging and e-commerce-related graphics and text.
They notified me about the interview on 104; I had not submitted a résumé.
First, a female employee greeted me, asked about my relevant work experience, and reviewed my portfolio.
Then I was interviewed by the female supervisor (the owner), who asked about my experience and reviewed my work, much like the previous interviewer.
However, she immediately asked how old I was, whether I was married, and whether I had a boyfriend.
She then said that the company’s marriage leave and maternity leave were conditional: employees only receive the legally mandated number of leave days after completing three years of service; before that, leave is granted proportionally.
She also said, “I actually strongly encourage getting married and having children, but, you know, if you come here and have a baby after just one year, it would be very troublesome for the company. I actually didn’t want to hire women…” and so on.
As a woman, she was actually diminishing the rights of female employees and not following the Labor Standards Act’s provisions on marriage and maternity leave.
The interview ended quickly afterward. They did not even seem interested in discussing the salary, so I left.
