The newly appointed manager of the IT department recognizes talent wherever it is: letting an employee who spends all day berating colleagues from other departments over the phone with offensive language, and who says, “I didn’t work on this before” whenever a problem arises, be named an Outstanding Employee of the Year. This gives all employees unlimited hope of winning this annual award.
It is truly, truly, truly, truly a waste to have such an outstanding employee responsible for only one already-stable system.
A system related to auto insurance or sales operations would certainly allow this colleague to demonstrate their ability to eliminate ineffective requirements, meeting management’s expectations of reducing costs!
