During the interview, they told me on the spot that I was hired and asked me to go home and wait for HR to send the offer letter.

Then, after I got home, they called me and said: “There’s no such thing! We’re not going to send you an offer!”

Did the interviewer just now even know what they were interviewing for? Was the manager just pretending?

What exactly did HR mean by calling to schedule the interview? ^^
