Pros

There are absolutely no advantages; even if you force myself, I can't come up with any...

Cons

The shortcomings I’m mentioning now account for only a small part:

1. The company environment is extremely noisy. The photocopiers and printers never stop all day, and even disturb employees’ lunch breaks.

2. Employees and the boss alike love shouting. They have poor manners and low standards.

3. Typhoon days off are unpaid.

4. Management really enjoys badmouthing people behind their backs and stirring up trouble. (They say one thing to people and another to ghosts.)

5. As long as someone in management takes a dislike to you, they will do everything they can to target you, find trouble for you, and force you to leave.

6. When traveling to central or southern Taiwan on business, you can only take intercity buses or ride along with sales staff; accommodation is arranged according to the boss’s wishes.

7. Senior employees like to pull rank. As long as you know how to suck up and manage upward, you can get along smoothly even without professional skills.

8. The company has absolutely no systems or procedures, and salaries are below market rates.

9. The salary structure is terrible. The base salary is very low, and they pile on a bunch of bonuses and “overtime pay” solely to evade taxes and avoid paying reasonable overtime compensation.

10. The weekly meetings are a waste of time, discussing meaningless matters. They are meetings where taking notes is completely unnecessary. (You listen to management share stories and flaunt their wealth while claiming to be very low-key.)

11. They like putting employees in unsuitable roles. For example, marketing has to do sales work; they do not want to spend money on marketing, yet they pressure marketing to generate revenue. They order all employees to take inventory or ship goods in the warehouse, work as department-store sales assistants to support anniversary promotions, or have marketing staff accompany sales representatives to visit stores and make sales pitches?

12. There is very little room to implement any proposals, and no budget is provided, so it is impossible to carry out any marketing projects. They do no marketing or publicity at all, yet expect employees to produce sales results!

13. There are no true professionals in management, only a bunch of people who make grand promises, talk empty talk, seek credit, steal credit, and love taking credit for others’ work.

14. One person may have to manage many brands, making it impossible to devote themselves fully to any one of them.

15. Every month, employees have to take turns serving as the duty person, doing the work a cleaning lady should do. (If you do it poorly, you will be scolded and have to serve as the duty person again.)

16. People in management all have friendly relationships with the boss, so they do not have to work. They especially love taking credit, arriving late, and leaving early.

17. The company has marketing and public relations, but I have never seen any new or key products featured in the media—not even a press release.

18. Colleagues do not respect or help one another, and the hierarchy is extremely rigid.

19. You may not leave your seat without permission. You may only go to the restroom, and if you go downstairs to smoke too frequently, you will be warned.

20. You must look extremely focused while at work. If you sit there blankly, someone will report that you are not taking your work seriously.

21. The general manager often says, “Don’t let everything be my idea, otherwise why would we need you?” But when we propose ideas, he makes us follow his ideas instead. It is extremely contradictory.

22. The sound of typing on the computer keyboard must not be too loud. If it disturbs colleagues, you will be warned.

23. The company does not provide toilet paper or cleaning supplies. When the weather is hot, you need permission from the old guard before you can turn on the air conditioning.

24. The old guard can chat and call one another on the internal lines, but when anyone else talks, it is considered a disruption to work order.

25. You have to curry favor with the old guard or with people in management at the appropriate times.

26. The old guard abuses their authority by relying on their association with the powerful. Because they control power, everyone still has to speak meekly to them and swallow their anger, even when they are overbearing, unreasonable, and empty-headed.

27. Senior managers in management appear to stand on the same side as you, but then go to the boss to gossip and make disparaging comments.

In conclusion, this place is suitable for recent graduates with no work experience who want to gain experience and see what the workplace is really like. (This place is not suitable for people who have ideals about marketing.)
