Interview for a procurement assistant position

- The manager’s final question asked about my goals in life, followed by a joking remark: “Or are you just going to get married when you turn 30?”

I felt somewhat angry and very uncomfortable, so I said, “No.”

After I went home that day and thought about it, I really felt that it was very disrespectful.

Who does he think he is? What gives him the right to be so presumptuous and assume that all women in Taiwan think this way?

- I applied for a project PM position, but HR asked me to come in for an interview for this assistant role.

Since I was unemployed at the time and had applied before the Lunar New Year, I thought I should go ahead and take the job to earn money and make a living, so I agreed.

During the interview, I really didn’t know how to explain why I was applying for this position with a PM résumé

(after all, I had initially applied using a PM résumé), so I made up something about hoping to have an opportunity to transfer to a PM role in the future.

The manager’s expression suddenly seemed to indicate that he was startled by the fact that my ambitions were beyond his ability to control.

It felt shocking. HR reacted similarly.

Apparently, neither of them had thought through why they wanted to invite me to an interview before doing so, wasting my time.

- Before entering the building, there happened to be a group of male employees from the company downstairs.

They kept looking at me (a woman) in a strange way, which made me very uncomfortable.
