I applied for a position in a startup’s department and was told by the interviewers that it was a newly established department. There were three interviewers. I was nervous during the interview and felt that my performance was not ideal. The interviewers said there were many candidates and that I would be notified within two weeks if there was a second interview (I was a little worried that I might not even get the chance XD). After waiting two weeks, I finally received news about the second interview. When I got the call, I was extremely excited—the only word that can describe it is “f***ing awesome.” The second interview was with the boss. Fortunately, I had organized all my previous work into a very systematic portfolio well in advance, redeeming myself, so the second interview was relaxed and went smoothly. I lived up to expectations and got the job. I am very confident in my professional skills and ability to handle the work. In addition, I am proactive and responsible in my approach to work, and I hope to work side by side with the company to meet its expectations. Compared with my previous company, the work environment is quite good; it feels very energetic. During the interview, they introduced the colleagues I would be working with in the department, and they were really nice.
I heard that overtime is common (and overtime pay is provided). Since I’m used to—and actually enjoy—working overtime, it doesn’t have much of an impact on me. Overtime also indicates that the company’s business is booming (though if overtime is caused by an individual’s lack of ability, that’s not right). I hope I can earn a little extra through overtime… having work to do and getting paid for it… that’s good enough for me.
