The dining area is quite spacious, and the indoor lighting is very bright. Although it is a restaurant, the dining area does not have a strong smell. It really is a very good place. The environment is truly wonderful.
I wasn't sure whether the interviewers were the manager or supervisors. When I was about to enter the restaurant, I saw that they were taking a break and using their phones, so I waited to go in because I had arrived five minutes early and was worried about disturbing them.
As soon as I went in and was about to speak, the two employees went off to clear tables. Whenever I tried to find someone to ask, they kept slipping away, leaving me completely confused. I had no choice but to stand aside and wait for them to finish.
Later, the male employee seemed to notice that someone was there and came over to speak with me. After I told him I had come for an interview, he asked me to sit down and wait. Later, the female employee finally finished clearing the tables and came over to interview me. The entire interview was extremely uncomfortable, and she clearly seemed very impatient.
She first asked about my past experience and my most recent job. I thought to myself, “I already submitted my résumé, so why are you still asking me this?” When I interviewed at other restaurants, the managers had carefully reviewed my résumé and confirmed the details with me before inviting me to interview, so both sides knew what to expect. It seemed that they had invited me over without looking at my experience and were just sending out applications indiscriminately.
Previous coworkers have said that I work quickly, but according to the evaluations I received from experienced chefs in the past, I am considered quite slow at chopping vegetables. So I honestly told her that I was slow at chopping vegetables. She became even more impatient and questioned me: “If you say you’re slow at chopping vegetables, then why did you come to this interview?” I could only reply, “If you think I’m not suitable, I can leave right now.” After she took back the résumé, I didn't want to say another word and left immediately.
After the entire interview, I felt that they were not looking for an ordinary employee but someone more like a mid-level kitchen worker. During the interview, they emphasized that the position required working both front and back of house, but their requirements for the kitchen were very high. It would be better to have fully developed kitchen skills before applying. However, the salary they offered might not be suitable for a mid-level kitchen worker. If you really feel that a candidate is unsuitable or that you do not like them, you should still pay more attention to the candidate’s résumé. After all, you were the ones who invited me to the interview, and I did not want to waste my valuable time or yours.
