Pros

The compensation offered at the interview is fairly good for the Nantou area (though it cannot compare with Taichung).

At first, the boss also gave employees a high degree of freedom...

Overall, it is a barely acceptable transitional company.

Cons

At first, the boss paints an overly rosy picture, saying that the company is great and that the benefits and systems are excellent. However, once you join, it is completely different from what was previously described...

They said accommodation would be provided free of charge, but electricity and water were charged separately—and at a higher rate than outside. The condition of the room was also very poor.

They said there would be overtime pay, but it was calculated based on the minimum salary on which the boss enrolled you for insurance. Even after multiplying it by 1.34, the result was still lower than the minimum hourly wage. The boss would also be worried if you worked overtime for too long and would specifically ask whether you really needed to work overtime.

The work itself was also a complete mess, involving both design and supervision. No surveying team was hired, so we had to measure lengths ourselves using crude methods, which were completely inaccurate. The quantities on the design drawings were only rough estimates, and because there were not enough supervisors, many projects were never inspected at all. They cared only about speed and completely neglected quality.

They took on projects like crazy and squeezed employees relentlessly. Once they felt that you did not meet their requirements, they would do everything possible to find a reason to demote you and cut your pay, deducting anywhere from NT$8,000 to NT$15,000 from your monthly salary at once. They might even fire you outright and tell you that you did not need to come back starting that day.

The boss also had very little trust in employees and handled all document receipt and dispatch personally. You could only follow his instructions about when to go for site inspections and when to draw. He would always give you the materials only when the deadline was approaching, then constantly rush you. You could not plan your work in advance at all.

The company environment was also extremely poor. The air conditioning was not cold at all, and if all the office lights were turned on, the boss’s wife would scold us for wasting electricity. She would also bring her dog to the office; it urinated and defecated everywhere, making the office smell terrible. If you accidentally stepped in it, she would make sarcastic remarks, saying that the dog had been there longer than I had and that I should watch where I was going and be careful.

In conclusion, this place is simply a trap.
