A 20-plus-year-old American company
Good image, average quality, and an opportunity to make money as an agent
The HR representative was late⋯
This caused the interview with the second department manager to run longer
It was delayed from 10:30 to 12:50
We were both hungry and really uncomfortable!
An online questionnaire with 120 questions
Estimated completion time: 10–15 minutes
The personnel information form was three pages long and included seven questions
Estimated completion time: 30–40 minutes
I asked why they did not digitize the process to save time.
(They could email it to the applicant to complete and return.)
HR said they wanted applicants to fill it out and answer the questions on the spot
because they did not want interviewees to have time to think beforehand,
so they chose not to digitize it.
What kind of answer is that? It was very unprofessional and inefficient—terrible!
They avoided eye contact⋯and spoke hesitantly
They asked the applicant questions based on the paper form
Their eye contact and tone were compared against the information on the personnel form
For example:
“Here, I see that you wrote about⋯handling projects, strengths and weaknesses⋯blah blah blah.”
Overall, the interview felt very bad⋯
Interview advice:
This is a 21-year-old American direct-selling company
Its culture is traditional, the average age of its internal staff is 45, and there is a generational gap
The average salary is about the same as that of ordinary traditional manufacturing companies
The products are high quality, and the business philosophy is good
Unfortunately, the internal HR team created a very poor impression of the interview
They need to reflect on this! It really is better to see once than hear about it a hundred times
Although I was notified of a second interview,
the experience felt so bad that I was left bewildered.
