I received an interview invitation from this company through 104. The company is very far from the MRT station, and after getting off the MRT, I still had to ride a YouBike for five minutes. After thinking about it for a long time, I decided to go and see what it was like.

The interviewer, who introduced herself as the CEO’s executive assistant, had clearly not read my résumé beforehand. She asked many questions about things that were already clearly stated on my résumé, such as where I had worked before.

After finishing those questions, she started asking about my work experience. I had spoken for less than a minute when she interrupted me and began asking about my experience in the information technology industry. I said I did not have any, and she replied: “If you don’t have experience, what’s the difference between you and a fresh graduate?”

Me: “Although I’m not familiar with the industry, I have experience working with distributors, am familiar with business models, and also have marketing experience.”

Then she started asking whether I knew how to use her company’s software. I answered that I did not.

She then switched into lecturing mode: “You don’t know anything, and you don’t understand the software either. Why did you apply for this position?”

I was completely baffled and told her that, actually, her company was the one that had invited me to interview.

She then asked what products their company represented.

I named the brands.

She continued asking about the details and functions.

I answered that I didn’t know.

Interviewer: “You don’t even know this? That means you didn’t do enough preparation.”

Me: “Yes, I didn’t prepare sufficiently.”

She continued lecturing me, saying, “With you not knowing anything, what is there for me to ask?”

Hello???

The job description did not say that an information technology background was required, nor did it say that applicants needed to be familiar with the software.

She had not even asked about my work experience for five minutes before she started tearing me down.

In the end, she started giving me the typical lecture from an older person, talking about how hard she had worked when she was young to enter the industry, and went on until the interview ended.

The entire interview lasted about 25 minutes. From beginning to end, the experience felt extremely uncomfortable. Her language was highly disrespectful, and I couldn’t sense any professionalism from her at all. The office was dirty and dim. I really regret traveling all the way from Sanchong to Neihu for this interview.

Absolutely terrible—completely awful.
