The manager of the after-sales service department who interviewed me and the assistant who coordinated with me were both quite friendly, and the interview process was also fairly pleasant.
I passed the interview, but on the day I reported for work, when it was time to sign the employment contract, I discovered that there was only one copy of the contract.
I asked the other party about it (I’m not sure of their position, since they were different from the manager and assistant I had dealt with during the interview; they were probably from HR or something similar). They said that this was simply the company’s policy, with no intention of allowing Party B—the employee—to retain a copy.
I said, “This is the first time I’ve seen a contract signed by both parties where only one party is allowed to keep a copy.” The other person actually replied directly, “Then you’ve seen it today.”
I was so annoyed that I immediately threw the contract back onto the desk and left.
