The boss dares to berate employees who submit their resignations, saying, “Don’t talk to me about the Labor Standards Act’s notice period for resignation,” and demands that they wait until the company hires a replacement before leaving. The boss then threatens to ruin the employee’s reputation in the industry if they refuse. From this, one can infer that the company’s legal team must be very strong and unafraid—or else the company is simply very familiar with the Labor Standards Act⋯⋯
HR will use a combination of coaxing and deception, threats and inducements, to lead laid-off employees into signing voluntary resignations. I once saw a young person foolishly sign one, then be unable to find a job or apply for unemployment benefits. Young people aside, even those with many years of work experience have nearly been tricked. HR will appeal to your emotions, saying, “Let’s leave this company together—come fill out the resignation form,” but I have been hearing for three years that “HR also wants to resign.” It now appears that this was entirely a scam!
