I interviewed for a fitness consultant position at Omegga Fitness Club, at its Yuanlin branch in Changhua County. At first, the branch manager interviewed me and briefly asked why I wanted to work there and what I thought about sales. It was more like casual conversation. There were very few people exercising in the club, but the music was extremely loud. We then talked about the job benefits and salary, but the manager glossed over everything and did not provide any specific figures. I had come with the attitude of just giving it a try, so I did not pay much attention to the fact that he would not discuss the salary. Unexpectedly, he offered me the job on the spot after the conversation, which shocked me somewhat... We had basically discussed nothing about the job duties or salary package. After he offered me the job, I told her that I needed to go home and think about it and would respond by phone. The next day, I called the manager back because I wanted to discuss the salary structure further, but he was also very evasive, saying that it would be explained when I reported for work... I was simply too curious, so I agreed to show up for work. I did not expect it to be a nightmare of a day. The work area for sales staff was extremely dirty, cluttered, and cramped (at the Yuanlin branch). It was also the coaches’ break area; everyone was crammed into a tiny room of less than two ping, which was extremely suffocating! Later, I repeatedly asked the manager how the salary was calculated, but he kept giving me vague answers, saying that the bonus system was currently being adjusted. By that point, I had already decided to leave. The entire morning, he kept brainwashing me and another new colleague, giving us an SOP manual for brainwashing customers. Later, the manager proposed a system for competition among the sales staff that left me completely dumbfounded, so I will not go into detail here. Anyone who wants to know can experience it for themselves. According to the manager, the boss plans to dominate the entire Taiwanese market—haha. The salary structure and bonus system at this company will make you want to run away. If you are extremely passionate about this industry, have strong sales talk, and are very good at brainwashing others, you could go take a look.
