The HR assistant was friendly and competent, unlike the other senior managers.
There is a significant reason why an internationally renowned leading brand has become so uncompetitive in Taiwan: its internal operations, team harmony, and management style undoubtedly play a major role. Before interviewing for the sales position, I repeatedly confirmed that the interview would be with the department manager. I also accommodated the "prestigious" company twice when it changed the interview time. I arrived at the site punctually that day and completed the written test, only to be told that the department manager was in a meeting and that I should wait a moment. After waiting, I was told that the department manager was very busy, so the interview was changed to an HR manager. During the interview, they said that their company places great importance on team members (which sounded truly ironic—if they value teamwork so much, how did they even manage to have the relevant department manager absent from an interview?). On what basis can they change the interview arrangements and have a manager from another department decide my next step? They do not even understand basic courtesy and treat people with contempt.
There is a reason this brand can survive only in department stores with little competition. Its sales performance is truly terrible. At Far Eastern Department Store, it cannot even see the taillights of BV, MK, LONGCHAMP, COACH, or POLO; it can only compete with brands that have opened less than six months ago. At Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Nanxi, it is also being left far behind by other luxury brands on the same floor, such as BURBERRY and COACH.
