I strongly urge everyone considering applying for a designer position here to think twice. I sincerely do not recommend it.
I believe every designer has a different style, and each person has their own preferred way of working when designing.
However, when your way of working differs from the boss’s, or when your design style cannot quickly become something the boss likes, the boss will regard these things as shortcomings. Just as described in the previous posts, the boss will start emotionally manipulating you, making sarcastic remarks and saying that failing to change these shortcomings will affect the company’s operations. Then, they will check every day to see whether you have improved, and take the opportunity to publicly criticize you in meetings.
The company’s working methods are also very unlike those of a design company. For many projects, no time is spent discussing the design approach or concepts. Sometimes, when I ask the boss what aspects of the visuals could be improved, the boss will give vague answers such as, “It just doesn’t feel right” or “The design sense isn’t there yet,” which is baffling.
In addition, the boss likes to reveal the salaries of different designers and design assistants, then compare how much each of you is worth, which is very uncomfortable. Although the company says that overtime pay is provided, when overtime is necessary, the boss also makes sarcastic remarks that discourage everyone from submitting overtime forms.
These are the genuine feelings of the designers, including me, who worked there during that period. Those who speak up for the company should at least have held this position before making such comments.
