1) Internal communication problems

During the interview, we agreed on a time, but when I arrived, they asked me, “Who contacted you?”

About ten minutes later, a supervisor came to interview me. After the interview, he told me that he was not the supervisor of that department and asked me to go to another location for another interview.

2) No pay on the first day, yet they still treated me like a gofer

After I was hired, they asked me to come in a day early to fill out paperwork and get familiar with the environment.

However, they asked me to go to another company location on my own to bring back a computer for work.

They even said, “Hey, since you’re going there anyway, help me take the projector screen over and put it there.”

It was really awful to be unpaid while being ordered around to help move things like a gofer.

3) Poor equipment and inadequate software

Before my start date, I had already said that I could only use a PC, but on my first day they still gave me a terrible Mac laptop.

Because a Mac could not install “certain software,” they asked me to go to another location to move a computer over.

Moreover, they only decided that day to rent “certain software that should have been rented long ago,”

which made me feel that the situation was completely unacceptable.

4) The supervisor was very skilled at using persuasive tactics

During the interview, he made you feel that you absolutely had to take this job.

But as long as you remain even slightly vigilant, you will not fall into his trap.
