As long as you get your work done, you can leave on time. There’s no need to put on an act, because everyone leaves work on time. Most colleagues are pretty good; some are willing to teach newcomers. It depends on whether you’re lucky.

There are often opportunities to travel to the United States on business. People in departments such as sales, customer service, logistics, and R&D may have a chance to go to the U.S. if they are fluent in spoken and listening English. You can even use company money to attend Apple’s WWDC in the U.S. When applying for a laptop or desktop computer, you can request an Apple device. Employees in the red division can buy a higher-end model and upgrade it further at their own expense. Employees in the black division can also apply with a legitimate reason, but they will only get the lowest-tier model.

The office design is quite unusual, with trees and grass, and somewhat resembles a minimalist construction-site style. I was pleasantly surprised when I first came for an interview, but after working there for a while, I was shocked, because rats frequently appeared during the workday.

I had not been here long when, after the vice president left, several senior managers began resigning one after another—RD, PM, Sales, ID, and QA. I heard that none of them received certificates stating that they had been involuntarily laid off, and most did not receive severance pay. As I understand it, each person’s departure was related to the “witch.” They had not made any major mistakes at work; perhaps they had offended her privately or failed to follow her ideas completely, so she would find ways to spread rumors and discredit them. People online say that unmarried women are dangerous, and she certainly gave me a firsthand demonstration.

I later found out that, in order to target someone in ID, she went to great lengths to swap the seating of people on the third and fourth floors and separate the ID equipment from that person’s seat. This also forced us to change seats and suffer the consequences. It was truly outrageous. Now that the person has been driven out, the seating has been restored. It was simply a complete mess.

The company’s organization has now become very strange. A brand-design company has no ID or PM staff; salespeople have been transferred to the Planning Department to do product planning; software testers are working as FAE staff; and software developers are managing QA. The atmosphere in the office is very strange. It feels as though no new products are in progress, and nobody knows what everyone is busy with. Some colleagues think the company is deliberately cutting longtime employees to reduce personnel costs, and told me not to worry too much. For now, it seems that only Sales and Software are busy. Sales staff can attend exhibitions in the U.S. while traveling, which is pretty nice, but don’t expect to learn anything from the sales manager—she only tells us to keep trying. Meanwhile, the general manager now appears only about once a week. His focus is no longer on this company, and he has left everything to the “witch” to manage. It’s time to start looking for another job.
