I have not formally joined the company yet, so I cannot make a definitive judgment.
When I went for the interview, I was told that I would have to wait 2–3 weeks for notification about a second interview.
However, when I called, the company suddenly told me that it had decided to put the position on hold for this year. (Then why did they originally post the position on the job website?)
This shows that things were not thought through or clarified in advance. Alternatively, the person who proposed the position may not have firmly confirmed whether there was actually a need, and simply opened the position casually.
As a result, the “HR department” had to find a bunch of people to interview at the company.
(In fact, during the problematic interview process, I vaguely felt that they did not want to fill this position at all. They even said that the company was not lacking in business, and that this position had not been needed for three years. When I asked why they had suddenly opened the position again, the interviewer said: “It was simply at the request of management.”)
It is therefore easy to imagine that the departments responsible for carrying this out were merely going through the motions, and ultimately reported back to the management that had requested the position that all the candidates were unsuitable and that there were no appropriate applicants.
In reality, they truly wasted each other’s valuable time.
This incident shows how widespread the company’s culture of going through the motions is.
Even if I were to join the company in the future and wanted to accomplish something, it would probably be very difficult and exhausting, because there are so many people who embody this culture of going through the motions.
Therefore, I advise newcomers who are going to interview at this company not to be too polite. Ask clearly first whether the company is definitely hiring. If they are not sure, do not waste everyone’s time!!
