First, the pros:
1. Located downtown (near Formosa Boulevard), with convenient transportation and plenty of lunch options.
2. Taking leave is very flexible; basically, there are no major issues as long as you arrive and leave work on time.
3. The colleagues are all pretty nice.
1. This company is a family business—a very family-oriented family business. Quite a few relatives, including uncles and aunts, work there.
2. The organization is so flat that there are no real supervisors. The supervisors are merely nominal; all matters, big or small, are decided by the general manager, who is also the boss’s wife. Please note: "all" matters, big or small. There are no SOPs whatsoever. She has the final say, but sometimes, if you do what she says, she will ask why you did it that way. By that I mean, blah blah blah~ an endless loop.
3. Continuing from the previous point, decisions are usually revised repeatedly. Those repeated decisions overturn her earlier decisions—in other words, she contradicts herself. Basically, decisions are always delayed until the very last minute, and then you are expected to produce the result immediately (WTF...).
4. The company will often hire someone for a specific small task. Once that task is finished, she will have the employee do something completely unrelated, and then say that the employee is not creating value.... WTF*2
5. Meetings have absolutely no focus. Afterward, you actually have no idea what the meeting was about—it feels like falling into a black hole. A huge waste of time.
6. This company is usually behind the trends. By the time a trend is nearly over for everyone else, the company only then starts promoting it...
7. Employee turnover is extremely high, and the factory is extremely conservative.
8. The best way to describe this company is: simple things are made complicated, while complicated things are either left undone or pushed onto someone else.
The big takeaway is: this is a real mess. I’ll add more if I think of anything else.
