Pros
As a firmware engineer, you can leave and arrive at work on time and don't have to take responsibility, because someone else will take it.
When there is work, do it slowly; when there is no work, wait for something to come along. There is no need to spend too much time or energy on learning and professional development.
Even so, I have been receiving this kind of salary for several years.
Cons
The company has expectations of its R&D staff: learn to achieve great results with minimal effort, and just gloss over things lightly.
