Having worked in product management across different departments, I personally feel that good departments have strong business revenue and good managers who provide clear work objectives. They establish incentives for meeting performance targets, but…whether you end up with the right manager really depends on luck.
1. In departments with weaker revenue, it is more difficult to drive initiatives forward. Managers lack the resolve to coordinate, leaving the people under the department to bear the burden.
2. Being "taken for granted" by managers and expected to stay on standby after work, on weekends, and during holidays to handle customers’ overseas issues online at any time—even trivial matters. There is no overtime pay, and failing to respond will result in criticism.
