Pros

1. The work environment is decent, e.g. changing rooms and the employee cafeteria.

2. Birthday room stay; a draw determines which room type you get.

3. Birthday vouchers and movie tickets.

-- Every company probably has more or less the same issues as those above. Everyone takes what they need. A good manager can benefit you greatly; conversely, one can leave you standing still.

-- Finally, let’s continue striving and fighting tomorrow.

Cons

1. The promotion system is opaque, and the standards are not objective, depending on the manager’s personal preferences (?)

2. Overtime is calculated by the hour, but the hours are usually inaccurate. There are unwritten rules that are never clearly explained—overtime hours are discounted at management’s discretion (e.g. work five hours of overtime but record only two).

3. Many departments are understaffed, and employees bear the brunt of customers’ anger during busy periods. There are endless discussions about review, improvement, and disciplinary measures, but managers are usually in the office during the busiest times. Although they might not be able to help even if they came out (or perhaps they just don’t?), their management style makes it difficult for employees to trust them.

4. Right and wrong do not matter; the customer comes first / customer complaints are treated as paramount. No matter how unreasonable the customer is, managers instinctively question their own employees first ---> You are on your own; no one will stand up for you.

5. Everyone in Human Resources is very nice, but when changes are needed in the workplace or problems in various departments need to be resolved... they are very quiet.

6. The annual evaluation standards are inconsistent. It depends on fate and which type of manager you happen to be evaluated by; one hour determines all the hard work you put in throughout the year.

7. Under the name of departmental rotation, employees are actually assigned to fill staffing shortages. (Those interviewing, please make sure you confirm the department and position you are applying for—seriously! It is best to see the actual workplace in person and confirm that it is an environment you can accept. Far Eastern does not offer trial shifts for you to evaluate it in advance.)
